Silhouette Files and SVG Files - I'm confused.
HELP!
Hello, I've been getting requests about how to convert SVGs to work with Silhouette machines. I've never owned a Silhouette machine, and I have no idea what kind of programs they work with. I use a Cricut Expression with Sure Cuts A Lot 2. Since it recognizes SVG files.
I did some research on Silhouette programs, and I am not sure if I got it correctly -- Their new program can now read SVGs? Or do you still need to convert them into GSD (?) files? Or what is DXT, or do you need them in PNG? Ahhhhh all those are getting me as confused as heck. I've never felt so blonde before. Ha.
I would love it if you could tell me exactly what you need for the SVGs to work on your Silhouette. I would like to start adding Silhouette files to my blog, but first, I need to know which kind of files will work the best, (SVG, GSD, DXT, PNG...?)
Or do I just stay with SVGs since it's the most easy one? Any feedback will be greately appreicated.

Used my Cricut (stencil on scrap wood)
I've been painting scrap wood boards often lately. I did three of them for Christmas for family. We have a neat store in downtown Olympia called "Re-Store" which use recycled building materials for any project. They sometimes have free scrap wood near their door. I would browse through some, take some home. They're cheaper than actual canvas (yes, I'm THAT cheap thrifty).
This 'LOVE' project -- I actually found this 14"x48" wood laying on the side of the road, getting run over by cars. So, I took it home and gave it a nice quick red paint over. Then used my Cricut Expression. I picked 4 scrapbooking papers that I didn't really care for, and cut out the letters. Each letter was about 11 inches tall. Used temporary tacky spray then gently blotted white paint (like a stencil) then peeled the papers off.
I am planning on doing the back, I will paint it white, and put "JOY" so I can easily use both sides for the holidays - Christmas ("JOY") then flip it over for Valentine's Day ("LOVE").
I am keeping an eye out for another long board so I can do one for Halloween ("BOO") and Thanksgiving ("THANKS"). I sure can't wait!
Here's my other boards I have painted -- All thanks to my Cricut Expression. :-)
